Cala Mariolu, Sardinia, Italy

spuligi de nie, also known as Cala Mariolu (from Neapolitan "mariolu" ie thief) is an inlet of the Gulf of Orosei , which is part of the municipality of Baunei , in the province of Ogliastra , in Sardinia . It is located immediately north of Punta Ispuligi  which separates it from the neighboring beach of the Gulls. The cove takes its name from an Italian told of a fisherman Ponzese refuge that his freshly caught fish in a small cave near the beach where we docked. The fisherman did not know, however, that in all of Costa Baunei was present the famous monk seal , that out of the water and ate the fish hidden in the cave. The fisherman, who did not know the existence of the seal, exclaimed "Acca basket Mariolu" (in Italian "here's some thief") and since then this exclamation gave the name to this cove.
